The second work meeting between officials from Derecske and Nucet has taken place over several hours on Wednesday in the city of Nucet and afterwards in the village of Vartop.
The visit of the Hungarian delegation ended with the signing of the minutes of the meeting. After ADD Bihor has organized, in the middle of May, a meeting between a delegation of Nucet city hall and representatives from Derecske in the county of Hajdu-Bihar, it was now the turn of the Hungarian neighbours to return the visit. As such, starting in the early hours of the morning, the representatives of institutions in Derecske, meaning Iklodine Szilagyi Katalin (regional chief for Derecske – Hajdu-Bihar), mayor Bako Istvan and Dioszegi Jozsef (city councilman) have reached the city of Nucet where they were greeted with hospitality by the hosts.
Vice-president of Bihor County Council Ioan Mang, mayor of Nucet Mircea Tuduce and executive director of ADD Bihor Vitalyos Barna together with local councilmen were part of the receiving delegation and offered a warm welcome to the visitors. The purpose of this exchange is a future twinning of the cities which will allow for the development of common projects through the Interreg V-A Romania-Hungary program.
The area of Vartop is the one area with the most to gain from this collaboration because of the future investments which will allow to significantly grow the touristic potential of the locality. Immediately after sitting down at the discussion table, the officials from the two countries began debating on the structure and general way of functioning of their respective institutions, finding both commonalities as well as differences in the way they are organized.
Additionally, they have shown openness in applying successful models of internal organization gained from each other within their own institutions. After more than an hour of discussion, the Derecske delegation has shown an interest in visiting the city that they will be twinning with. As such, all the representatives have visited the Nucet Psychiatry Center which offers specialized medical services for over 200 patients, the Nucet No. 1 Gymnasium, the „Ioan Davideanu” House of Culture, which is a fragment of local history, as well as the future spaces for the didactic swimming pool to be built in the city and for the new tourism information and promotion center.
Before saying goodbye, the representatives from Hungary stopped in the locality of Vartop where they took some time to visit and have a 20 minute long leisure walk which they have immortalized in numerous photographs. At the end of their visit, delegations from both countries signed the minutes of the meeting which they hope will lead to further successful common projects after the official twinning process is completed.
The vice-president of Bihor County Council, Ioan Mang, has wished them well and has offered his sincere congratulations to all involved, ensuring them of his full support. „I thank you very much for the openness you have shown, for the welcome you gave us in Derecske, and I hope we were able to be good hosts for you today. This accord that we have signed today is just the beginning to a long and successful collaboration” – Mircea Tuduce, mayor of Nucet.
